What does Kakadu mean?

According to Kakadu's founders, the company was named after a large Australian bird-what many call the Cockatoo. Kakadu is also a region in the Northern Territory of Australia.

What kind of wood is used in Kakadu products?

Kakadu's products are made from a combination of solid wood and high-quality plywood. Specific types of wood are chosen to not only suit product design, but also to respond well to their paints and lacquers.

Where are the products made?

All our products are made in our state-of-the-art workshop in Moshave Zafririm, Israel, midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

What kind of paint is used on Kakadu products?

At Kakadu, we mix our own water based paints to ensure that they contain a high ratio of pigment to binder. This means our colors stay bright and true for a very long time, without becoming faded or chalky-looking.

Wooden carpets….are you kidding? Can I walk on them?

You bet! Don't let their delicate beauty belie their toughness and durability-our floor coverings are perfectly suited for your highest foot-traffic areas, even kitchens or hallways.

Kakadu wooden carpets can be easily cleaned using a damp, soapy cloth. And they can be restored every few years using furniture wax.

If placed in damp places such as bathrooms, they should be dried and aired once a week by being rolled up and stood on end for 1-2 hours.

What culture or cultures are the inspiration for Kakadu products and motifs?

The ideas for our products and artwork cannot be traced to any specific culture, location, or style; rather, they arise from the creative mind of our artist. As such, each design incorporates not only the artist's unique personality and talent, but also the various cultural and stylistic influences that have shaped her.

What if I want to order something I didn't see on the website?

We will be happy to design a custom piece for you. Simply Contact Us with your product and art motif specifications. Be sure to supply to your complete mailing address, and we will contact you with pricing and shipping information.

I want my Kakadu product to last…how do I take care of it?

Kakadu products are designed to be highly durable and long-lasting, with multiple coats of scratch- and fade-resistant acrylic lacquer. The only maintenance your product should require is a periodic cleaning with a gentle soap and a damp towel.

Where are Kakadu items shipped from?

Orders for items you see on our website are shipped from our Kakadu workshop in Israel.
